Homestay message
Hello Student
Let me introduce myself--my name is April Wootten. I do eye examinations for foreign students, and quite enjoy the experience of talking with them and finding out about their lives abroad.
We recently had a wonderful young woman from India staying with us. We prefer to host serious, honest, FEMALE exchange students coming directly from abroad who are somewhat independent in nature.
We are a small family (husband Brian, 19-year old daughter Nisha and 15-year old cat Chance) living in a spacious, newly renovated Victorian house in a graceful part of Montreal called N.D.G.....There are 2 balconies upstairs and a beautiful deck/yard in the back of the house. We are a one-minute walk from buses, and a 7-minute walk to two metro stations (Vendome and Villa Maria). We are a two-minute walk to a large park and lots of shopping facilities, and a 12 minute drive to downtown.
We are ordinary working people, our daughter goes to school and works part-time. We live peacefully, harmoniously and quietly.
We are obviously very respectful of the guest's need for privacy, but are always available to help her with any problems or queries she may have. We are also happy to chat with her when we are together, of course.
Just the room by itself can be rented, or, if you prefer, or we can negotiate breakfast, but not lunch or supper, due to our work hours....
The cook-for-yourself thing works very well with us, because we mostly do that now (Nisha keeps her own schedule, mostly, so we eat together on an informal basis). When we are home at the same time, obviously it would be fun to cook and eat together, in particular on weekends. The guest has her own shelf in the fridge, and obviously room for her other foodstuffs in the cupboards as required. We can also arrange to help her shop, if needed, for food.
The guest room has just been renovated with lots of cupboards and closet space. There is a Murphy (ie. fold-down) queen-sized bed so if you require extra space, it is available. There is cable and wireless internet access, use of a printer and wonderful laundry facilities (bio-friendly detergent and softener included) upstairs. We also have an elliptical machine and other gym equipment upstairs, because we cannot always make it to the gym, especially in the colder months . We women use the upstairs washroom (newly renovated) whilst my husband always showers in the downstairs washroom, for modesty.
I speak fluent French as well, so you can speak to me in either English or French.
On-line photos available upon request.
Airport pickup available if not during our working hours....
Should you require more info., please do not hesitate to contact me at 514-485-7985.
